Tokyo Underground: Toy and Design Culture in Tokyo
ISBN-10: 0979667801 AmazonI came up with the idea for this book in 2006 after my second trip to Tokyo. After a few rough drafts I teamed up with Brian Flynn of Super7 and Hybrid Design. He brought in photographer Jef Dey, and together we created this book. Released in late 2007, the book was limited to 5,000 copies and has sold out. Distributed by Ginko Press, Tokyo Underground was available in all major bookstores as well as independents worldwide.
Toys
I have had the privilege of teaming up with some of today's hottest up and coming toy designers to create some unique toys.
Vegetius (Nor' Easter ver)
Designed by Rand Borden of Boston's Kaiju Big Battel, and produced by Marmit of Japan, this toy was designed to reflect the cold harsh New England winter that we have to endure each year. Made out of Soft Vinyl, sold bagged and carded.
Sky Deviler (Gore Version)
Designed by Rand Borden of Boston's Kaiju Big Battel, and produced by Marmit of Japan. This was my first toy collaboration, and it was an honor to work with such renowned individuals. While the normal version of Sky Deviler is decorated in a friendlier color scheme, I felt i needed to represent the rage the character shows in the ring. Made out of Soft Vinyl, sold bagged and carded.
Pheyden (Wraith)
Onell Design is an up-and-coming toy design and production house, and I was given an opportunity to do an exclusive colorway of their flagship figure. Unveiled at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con, Pheyden (Wraith) quickly sold out.
Gobon (Cobra)
My next collaboration with Onell Design, Cobra Gobon, will be released in the fall of 2009
